    Spider mites can be a difficult pest for date growers, especially with how high up in the trees the fruit is. However, new methods of spider mite management are being studied at UC Riverside, including the use of predatory mites.     The Asian citrus psyllid is an active threat for growers and the main vector for Huanglongbing disease. These invasive insects have wreaked havoc in Florida and spread to Southern California, but researchers at UC Riverside are finding ways to counter them.
